Week 2-Design Document


Game Title-Mansion 


Target Audience- ages 17-27
I believe that this a perfect age range to market this game towards. It's a horror mystery themed game and people within this age range usually find these types of stories very interesting.
Goal-  The player is in search of his friend that he has reason to believe has been taken to this suspicious mansion.
Theme based off- Modern mystery/horror
History of space/environment-In this small town there lies a mansion in the woods. The people that live in this mansion never come out or socialized and keep to themselves. The people from that town have heard many stories and rumors around the suspicious house. Recently, the main character's friend went missing and the main character is very suspicious of this mansion and the people that live inside being the culprit. The main character is going to sneak in and find out what is really going on inside while in search of his friend.
Limitations-Front of the house. Main room and a few rooms within the house. I feel  the scope of this project could be over extensive if I start at the beginning of the story. What I might do is start the player towards the end of the story where he is close to finding his friend. So I can limit it to a few rooms and also so the player can achieve the goal.

Start and Ending player emotion-The beginning emotion of the player is going to be cautious and curious on how to get their way around the mansion without being noticed as they explore the mansion and look for the main characters friend. The ending emotion is going to be accomplished and triumphant when the player rescues his friend.
Game Mechanics/Start-Finish-  The player will begin the game in a strange jail type area. He will then have to figure out how to escape from this holding cell. After finding the trigger to release him. He will have free roam to venture through some of the rooms of the house in search of clues. Eventually the player will solve a puzzle that involves collecting objects until he reaches the area his friend is being kept. He will find his friend and escape with her. While setting up a way to destroy the entire house. In the end the player will save the girl and get rid of the creepy mansion where weird things have been happening. I would like to include different elevations and some type of simple platforming element.
The art style- Photo-realistic but grungy.
